YAAKWDÁAT LATÍNX’I COALITION SUBMITS 212 PROXIES, CALCULATING A LAWFUL QUORUM FOR CRITICAL SHAREHOLDER MEETING
YAKUTAT, Alaska, September 22, 2023 – The Yak-tat Kwaan, Incorporated have not held a required annual shareholder meeting since January of 2020. On August 28, 2023, the State of Alaska court ordered the corporation to hold the requested annual shareholder meeting on September 23, 2023.
The Yaakwdáat Latínx’i (Stewards of Yakutat) Coalition submitted 212 proxies representing 17,425 shares to the Yak-tat Kwaan, Inc. corporate offices today before 5:00 PM. All proxies have been received by the appointed Inspection Judge. The minimum amount of shares required to achieve quorum is 17,221. Should all of our proxies be unquestioned by the Inspector of Elections, we will have a quorum at the start of our meeting tomorrow.
“This incredible feat would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of so many shareholder volunteers including our Elders and Youth ranging from Anchorage, Yakutat and Juneau all the way to Washington and Oregon,” says Co-Chair Amanda Bremner. "Following tomorrow's election results, the proposed slate aims to promptly assess the extent of the bankruptcy situation. We commit to earnestly collaborate with creditors and the court to find sustainable debt reconciliation solutions that do not include further timber harvesting or large-scale land sales. Moreover, the proposed slate is committed to upholding transparency by delivering informational and truthful updates to our Shareholders."
The Annual Shareholder meeting is scheduled to take place tomorrow, September 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the ANB Hall in Yakutat, Alaska. Registration begins at 12:00 PM.
